Oldbury got back to league action this weekend against Ballyowen, who themselves had an impressive start to their campaign with 4 wins from their opening 5 games.

In an even contest, it was centre back Dan Barnwell who broke the deadlock on 30 mins, flicking a header from Leigh Callery’s long throw which nestled into the net.
Oldbury could have been out of sight with Andy Nowlan, Aaron Delaney and Tiarnan O’Hanlon going close but the last 10 mins of the half saw a strong Ballyowen resurgence and a well taken goal saw the teams go in at the break level.

The 2nd half started at a frantic pace, with Nowlan hitting the post from distance before seeing his side concede to see the visitors 2-1 up. The remaining half hour saw Oldbury push and push but had to wait until injury time – when that man again Dan Barnwell getting his head to a Sean Delaney corner. A point taken on the day which could be valuable down the line.
